Terms of
service.

Last updated 30 July 2026. These terms cover buying a Howl alarm and using this website. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

This document is provided as general information. It is not legal advice. Please have it reviewed by an Australian legal practitioner before you begin trading.

1. About these terms

This website and store are operated by Loch street trading company (ABN [ABN to be confirmed]) trading as “Howl” (we, us, our). By browsing this site or placing an order you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

We may update these terms at any time. The version published when you place an order is the version that applies to that order.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or guardian, to place an order. We currently sell and ship to addresses in Australia and New Zealand only.

3. Products and information

The Howl alarm is a 130dB personal safety alarm with an integrated LED light. The 130dB figure is the siren output measured at one metre in test conditions; perceived loudness varies with distance, environment and orientation.

We take care to describe products accurately. Photography, renders and screen colours are indicative only and minor variations in finish, hardware and packaging may occur between production runs.

4. Safe use and important limitations

The Howl alarm is a deterrent and attention device. It is not a security service, tracking device, medical alert or guarantee of personal safety. It does not call for help, contact emergency services or connect to a monitoring centre. In an emergency call 000 in Australia or 111 in New Zealand.

  • The alarm is extremely loud and can cause hearing damage. Do not activate it close to your own or another person's ear, and keep it away from young children.
  • Test the alarm and light briefly on a regular basis so you know it works and how it feels to use.
  • Do not use the device to harass, intimidate or cause a public nuisance. You are responsible for using it lawfully.
  • Do not dismantle, modify, submerge or expose the device to extreme heat. Doing so voids the warranty.

You are responsible for checking any local restrictions that apply to carrying or activating personal alarms where you live or travel.

5. Orders

Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed only when we send you a dispatch confirmation. Before that we may decline or cancel an order — for example if the item is out of stock, the price or description was published in error, payment cannot be verified, or we suspect fraudulent or resale-scalping activity. If we cancel a paid order we refund you in full.

6. Pricing, GST and payment

All prices are shown in Australian dollars (AUD) and include GST for Australian orders where applicable. New Zealand orders may attract GST, duties or import charges collected at checkout or on delivery depending on order value; you are responsible for any charges not collected by us.

Prices may change at any time, but a change will not affect an order we have already confirmed. Payment is taken at checkout through our payment provider. We do not store your full card details.

7. Delivery

Delivery timeframes given at checkout are estimates, not guarantees. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery to the address you supplied. Please make sure your address and contact details are correct — we are not responsible for orders delayed or lost because of an incorrect address, and a re-delivery may incur a further shipping charge.

Full delivery details are on our Shipping & returns page.

8. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

For New Zealand consumers, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986 apply and are not excluded. Where goods are supplied for business purposes in New Zealand, the Consumer Guarantees Act does not apply.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under those laws.

9. Warranty

In addition to your consumer law rights, we provide a 12-month warranty from the date of delivery against defects in materials and workmanship. To make a claim, email Howl@Howl-Alert.com with your order number and a description or photo of the fault.

The warranty does not cover:

  • Normal wear, scratches and cosmetic marks.
  • Damage from misuse, accident, drop damage, water immersion, extreme heat or unauthorised modification.
  • Batteries depleted through normal use.
  • Devices bought from an unauthorised reseller.

10. Returns and change of mind

We accept change-of-mind returns within 30 days of delivery provided the device is unused, undamaged and in its original packaging. Return postage for change-of-mind returns is at your cost. Faulty item returns are at our cost. See Shipping & returns for the process.

11. Website use

You may use this website for lawful personal purposes only. You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, interfere with the site, scrape it at scale, or use it to transmit malicious code. We may suspend access if you do.

We aim to keep the site available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access, and we may change or withdraw any part of it without notice.

12. Intellectual property

All content on this site — including the Howl name, logo, wolf branding, product design, photography, video, copy and code — is owned by or licensed to us and protected by copyright and trade mark law. You may not copy, reproduce or use it commercially without our written permission.

13. Liability

Subject to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law and the Consumer Guarantees Act, and to the extent permitted by law:

  • Our total liability for any claim relating to a product is limited to, at our option, replacing the product, supplying an equivalent product, or refunding the price you paid.
  • We are not liable for indirect, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, arising from your use of the site or the product.
  • We are not liable for harm arising from a criminal act by a third party, or from the device failing to prevent such an act. The alarm is a deterrent only.

14. Privacy

We handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy policy, the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ).

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that state and the Commonwealth of Australia. If you are a New Zealand consumer, nothing in this clause limits your ability to bring a claim under New Zealand consumer law.
